A few of you have been asking what kind of things we do for Family Home Evening. For those who don't know what Family Home Evening is, Monday night is considered Family Night. We have a song, a prayer, a lesson, a activity and a treat and then a closing prayer. So, I told some of you for the next few weeks I would quickly jot down what we did.
Tonight we discussed Lehi's Dream that is talked about in the Book of Mormon. We talked about the Iron Rod which is the word of God. I asked the kids how we can continue to hold onto the Iron Rod? I asked them what things would take us away from the Iron Rod? We talked about the Great and Spacious Building and how people laughed at those who were holding onto the rod, which in turn made some people loose their way because they don't like being laughed at. We then talked about the Tree of Life and the Sweet fruit that was on it that we all yearn for. For desert, I had a spread of cut up watermelon, blackberries, bananas, apples and oranges with a dipping sauce. I compared these sweet tasting fruit to the fruit that is on the treee. Simple and easy. The following picture I showed the kids and had them put in their FHE Book so that they can turn back to it when they want to remember the different things we have done in family home evening.
