I received a really special phone call from a dear friend last night. This dear friend was my high school English teacher throughout all my years in High School. She mentored me through out my English studies and helped me to write the most fantastic essay that actually won an award. She loved me, built me up, came to all my special events, and was at my wedding reception and made a handmade quilt for Brendon and I. This women is my hero. We had the most wonderful time talking and laughing. After I got off the phone with her, Paige came up and cuddled next to me and said who were you talking to mom? The way you were talking to her it sounded like you have known her for a long time. I replied, "Yes I have known her a long time." She was a teacher of mine and and she is the reason I chose to become a teacher. Paige turned to me and replies, "Mom is she your Mrs. Akin?" I thought about it for a minute and said yes.
I heard this quote once that said the following:
The best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book. ~Author Unknown.
Paige's second grade teacher has become such a special part of our family. Mrs. Akin is our Colorado Grandma. We love to spend time with her, spoil her and just plain be together with her. Paige thrived in second grade because of the love and attention she received from such a special woman. She has attended special events of Paige and that is so awesome. So Mrs. Akin here's to the memories that were made and to all the wonderful memories that lay ahead. We love you...
