Semi-Krazy Coupon Emily

Over the vacation I ran into a couple of friends who began talking about the Krazy coupon lady.  I have always been one that has used coupons but not to the extreme of the Krazy coupon people.  However, Yesterday I decided to take it for a spin and see what i could get that I needed and see how much I really saved.  So I set out at  Walgreens first.  One thing I learned is that most stores will take their coupon that they have placed in their add plus a manufactors coupon.  At Walgreens I got Q-tips for fifty cents a box (300 Count), Pantene Shampoo buy one get one half off (coupons I had was $1.50 off each bottle), Kraft mac and Cheese .25 cents a box, Excedrin Five hundred count $5.00.  My total bill before coupons was $55.71.  After coupons both in store and manufacturing my bill was $22.87.  Then I went over to the photo department where I had invitations made for Paige's baptism.  Had a coupon from Walgreens for 50 free prints.  Total cost:  FREE.....
Ok, so next I went to Rite Aid, on my list Charmin toilet paper,  on sale with coupon for $6.99 for 12 rolls, regular $9.99, had manu coupon for $1.00 off each.  Bill was $22.93.  Total after coupons, $15.93.
Ok, so Safeway.  Three things I love about safeway.  They double your coupons, You can use double coupons, meaning their store coupons and manu coupons and you get gas rewards for every 100 dollars you spend.  Bill total came to $87.91.  Coupons plus instore discounts, bill was dropped to $41.45.  I got cereal for .75 a box, the good stuff, Cocoa Puffs, Golden Grahams, Life, Cheerios, ect....
Ok, next stop was bath and body works because Paige said she needed some lotion. They had a bin of 75% off.  So, she and I got lotion, spray and mini hand sanitizers and a puff ball.  Total bill was $26.31.  After my free item came off and another $10.00 off for a survey I did the total was $6.31.
Final Score of the day.  Needed to get envelopes for Paiges baptism invites.  On the way to the check out counter they had a cart full of clearance items.  I picked up a couple of folders to use for later.  Total bill came to $16.20.  I had my rewards card, which the clerk scanned.  Upon scanning it the total came up Zero and he said that it was paid for in full, with money still left on my card, due to surveys, ink cartidges recycled and items I had bought over the last six months.  Total Price:   FREE.

So, I have proven to myself that if I take an hour, clip coupons from Sundays paper, go through all the ads, see what I need. I can get some great deals.  Total Savings after todays adventures:  $112.01.

I use a coupon here and there, but I have a hard time with "extreme couponing" I always feel like I walk out with stuff I don't need. Good for you on saving on things you needed.
