Ftiness Challenge 2010

This Fitness challenge was designed by my friend Jen, if you want in let me know and I will give her your information so you can have access to the blog site to keep track.

So it's 2010 and I am super excited about getting fit again! This time though I have come up with a new plan for me and for whomever would like to join. I personally do best when I have a support group to, well...support me and to talk with me about the goal. When I feel a little pressure to do my best so that I can put up a good score I make a lot more progress.

I will be creating a private blog for you to post on and everything will be kept there and recorded. We can give each other tips or encouragement and make this fun! The more people we get involved...the better with this one!!!
Let me explain the rules...be sure to read this all the way through so that you know what you are committing to.

This challenge will be opened up to anybody...and I mean anybody. It doesn't matter if you have nothing to lose or if you have 100 pounds to lose. It will be completely fair to all shapes and sizes. We want you to join us so that fitness is achieved and so that we can all feel better inside about our health.

You must commit for 5 months this time (January 11th-June 13th). We want this to be a lifestyle changer. You will get one free day a week. You can only get points for 6 days of the week. That is how much I love you!

We will be using a point system a little bit like last time.

Daily Points will be rewarded for the following things:

64 oz. of WATER consumed (flavored waters do not count) - 1 point
Every 30 minutes of Real Exercise - 1 point (Max of two points for an hour)
Sticking to your Personal Diet Plan - 1 point (you set this and you keep it)

Weekly Points

Sticking to our Collective Monthly Goal - 3 points (only if you accomplish the goal for the entire week)

So there is a possibility of getting 27 points a week (24 daily points (4 points x 6 days) and 3 weekly points). You'll notice this time we will not be rewarded points for actual weight lost because this is a fitness challenge not a weight loss challenge. That is the ultimate goal this time. I'm sure the pounds will drop after doing this though. I am hoping so for me anyways.

Now let me explain this collective monthly goal.

Each month I will post a collective goal. At the end of the month the one with the most collective monthly goal points will be given a prize that I will come up with and mail to you. If there are more then one of you who get the same highest amount then there will be a drawing. Only one will get the prize. I'll get those figured out each month and let you know what you could win!
Here are the goals I came up with: Let me know if you have any others or if you approve. I would make it a surprise each month but I need you to know what you are getting into.
January 11th - February 7th: No Eating after 8 pm. Water drinking is fine of course.

February 8th - March 7th: No Eating Out

March 8th - April 11th: No Sweets

April 12th - May 9th: 15 Extra Minutes of Exercise a Day (which means you would need to get in 1 hour and 15 minutes of exercise a day for a week to get these points).

May 10th - June 13th: Get in 100% of Your Water
Your points will be recorded every week by the following Monday.

Monthly collective Goal Points will be recorded on the final date of that month like period of time.

If this is all you would like to do then that is fine. But if you want more to keep you motivated then read on! It gets better!

THERE WILL BE A CASH POT! If you would like to be eligible for this cash prize in the end then you will need to send in 25 dollars up front. You don't have to do it if you don't want to be part of this addition! This ends up being a tiny bit more then 1 dollar a week. The best part about this is that if you want your money back then you will need to get at least 85% of the total points for all 5 months (505 Total Points of the 594 Points Possible) otherwise it goes into the prize money pot for the top three competitors. So the more we have commit to this the better the prize in the end will be. Now I know I sound like a commercial or a scam artist. I promise your money will be safe in a jar high up in a closet marked Winners Only! If you do make the 85% point cutoff then I will mail it back to you safe and sound. I just wanted something that would motivate you to keep going even if you are not winning! I think that was one of our problems last time. People would realise they could never catch up and so giving up was fine. Does this make sense? I wouldn't have said to send it in right away except we had some people last time who didn't get their prize mailed to them and I think having it be actually gone and out of your pocket will make it more real and will help you want it back. Like I said. You do not have to do this part if you don't want to.

I think that is about it.

EMILY! I totally want to do this! I have been needing to get fit for years! AND It was my goal for 2010 to finally get to my goal! You're the best for coming up with this! keep me up to date on all of this!! I AM SO EXCITED!

Okay fun! I'm glad you added this to your blog! When you do have somebody interested like your Karen friend, I will need their email address to invite them to write on the blog. I can hardly wait to start.

Okay! Am I totally late? I would love to join in now that my sink is shiny and my house is clean :D I probably won't be a high points kinda gal, but it gives me something to shoot for! Mind if I pass this on to a friend? Thanks for the invite!
