Emily has been published.....

So I am going to toot my own horn here. I get a magazine called Country Woman. About six months ago they asked for submissions of articles about the most embarrassing or funniest moments you have had in your life. So I decided to share my most embarrassing story as of yet. Well today I received a large envelope in the mail and it was the newest copy of their magazine for June and July 2009, with a letter from the editor, congratulating me on my recent publication in their magazine, with a check for $25.00. It is really cool. Or at least I think so.

Most embarrassing moment: The family reunion was going great. My husband and daughter were in the hotel pool, and there were relatives gathered around in the glass-sided building. I scooped up one of our twins in each arm so I could go chat, too. After visiting, I left the pool area, and proceeded to walk smack into a glass window, thinking it was an open door. We hit it so hard that we shook the whole building. Though everyone froze in shock then, they all recovered sufficiently to laugh uproariously about it throughout dinner. The twins and I both sported big red spots on our foreheads all night-and my cheeks were glowing just as red.

TO MY NAKED EYE....

Brendon and I came out in the living room to find Parker and Madison sitting together like this and talking with each other. We busted out loud laughing.

MOTHER GOOSE ON THE LOOSE DAY

At school today they had a Mother Goose on the loose day where the children dressed up as a character in the nursery rhyme they chose. Paige quoted a nursery Rhyme called "Needles and Pins." It goes like this: Needles and Pins, Needles and Pins, When a man marries a woman his trouble begins." She dressed up in all white and wore my veil. It was a fun day.

COUNSEL FOR MOTHERS

"Sisters, find some time for yourself to cultivate your gifts and interests. Pick one or two things that you would like to learn or do that will enrich your life, and make time for them. Water cannot be drawn from an empty well and if you are not setting aside a little time for what replenishes you, you will have less and less to give to others, even to your children. Avoid any kind of substance abuse, mistakenly thinking that it will help you accomplish more. And don't allow yourself to be caught up in the time-wasting, mind-numbing things like television soap operas or surfing the Internet. Turn to the Lord in faith, and you will know what to do and how to do it." M. Russell Ballard,

Funniest Thing I have Read in a Long Time

"Dear IRS,
I'm sorry to inform you that I'm not going to be able to pay the taxes owed on April 15th, but all is not lost. I paid these taxes, accounts receivable tax, building permit tax, CDL tax, corporate income tax, dog license tax, federal income tax, unemployment tax, gas tax, hunting license tax, fishing license tax, waterfowl stamp tax, inheritance tax, inventory tax, liquor tax, luxury tax, Medicare tax, city tax, school and county property tax up to 33% the last four years. Real estate tax, Social Security tax, road use tax, toll road tax, state and city sales tax, recreational vehicle tax, sales franchise tax, state unemployment tax, federal excise tax, telephone tax, telephone federal state and local surcharge tax, telephone minimum usage surcharge tax, telephone state and local tax, utility tax, vehicle tax, registration tax, capital gains tax, lease severance tax, oil and gas assessment tax, Colorado property tax, Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Mexico sales tax and many more I can't recall and I've run out of space and money.

When you do not receive my check April 15th, just know that it was an honest mistake. Please treat me the same as the way you've treated Congressman Charlie Rangel, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, ex-congressman Tom Daschle and, of course, your boss, Timothy Geithner. No penalties, no interest. PS, I'll make at least a partial payment as soon as I get my stimulus check.
